Snow in the Lowcountry

It snowed here in the Low Country. This is the second time since we have lived here that we have gotten snow. The last snow was 2018. This time was a little different and the kids were a little older.

Austin and I had e learning days. My students also had e learning. I kept recalling Covid days-without the live teaching. I made some jam up slides but I did not upload worksheets. Thankfully students were at school 1/2 day Tuesday and I was able to give them some worksheets. I had them take their reading book and notebooks home on Friday (we were out Monday since it was MLK Jr Day), but I was able to make copies Tuesday  to be even more prepared for snow.

I have been able to make lesson plans for next week, had a parent teacher conference on Google Meets, grade papers, do some professional learning, and crochet. Chris has worked at home too. He painted the bathroom cabinets. Dylan has helped with chores. He has been able to use his life skills. He has also had much time to chillax.

Happy New Year!

We visited Ashleigh and Sam on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. We enjoyed more yummy food for dinner and breakfast, Chris and Sam discussed some home projects that they want to accomplish and cleaned the front gutter, had great conversations, and made memories. Dylan went for a walk with Ashleigh, Sam, and Glorf too!

Rhonda and Billy came to South Carolina. I made homemade collards and black eyed peas, bbq pork in the crock pot, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. We also had ham that Helen made. We enjoyed lots of conversations, laughing, and catching up.we watched the Sugar Bowl with Georgia losing to Notre Dame.  The following day, Chris, Rhonda, Billy, Helen, Dylan, and I went out and about  I drove around downtown looking at all the old houses, churches, buildings and telling Rhonda and Billy about little stories related to them including Rainbow Row, the Battery, the ugly sisters’ houses, and The Caropolis Award. Then we drove around Sullivan’s Island with the history of Fort Moultrie and also showed them the bunkarr house. Later, driving to IOP looking at all the houses. We had a yummy dinner at Acme and finished with the Super Sundae at Ye Old Fashion. So much fun was had that I have only this picture

Home updates-new tile!

Over the break, we had to have some framing issues repaired in the “green” room /sunroom area. So with that cam some drywall repair and new paint. We decided to paint a different color also and the back wall was clear coated. Chris also  ran new crown molding too.

Chris and I gifted ourselves a new makeover in the powder room complete with new tile, a vanity sink, and a comfort height. We also put new tile in Ashleigh’s bathroom and the boys bathroom. Chris also put a fresh coat of new paint in the powder room and Ashleigh’s bathroom. He painted the ceilings white again too. We are awaiting new granite countertops for Ashleigh’s and the boys bathroom.

Christmas

Christmas morning early Dylan wakes up, comes downstairs (while Chris and I are sleeping), and I hear him say, “No presents”. I tell him he is too early and that he should go back to bed. Therefore, I get up and place out all the gifts. (I usually do in Christmas Eve before I go to bed. Chris said you’ll get up before them so you can place out in the morning. Boy, was he wrong.) Dylan did go back to bed and he was snoozing. I did wake him and he woke Austin for arrival of presents.

We decided to have breakfast at Waffle House and continue our watch a movie tradition. We saw Mufasa. This was also part of Dylan’s birthday

Later we ride over to Helen and Jim’s for the boys to open gifts.

Very thankful for a beautiful Christmas with family, love, and laughter but most grateful for the birth of Jesus , our Lord and Savior
