Catching up -Ashleigh’s turn

Ashleigh and Sam are in the processing of buying their first home! They are super excited. Packing and getting ready for the move has started for them. They are hopeful to move soon. Chris and Dylan will help them on moving day/weekend since Austin and I will be in Disney with the choir. The Cole crew will help too.

She continues to stay busy working, training their dog, crocheting, dating her husband, and navigating adult married life. She and Sam also recently ran a half marathon- what an incredible experience!

I am also propagating my first plant. Hoping to share with Ashleigh. I’ve got two pothos cuttings and also some aloe pups.

Choir Times for Austin

The high school choir recently had a car show. It was a fantastic event. Jim entered his truck too! The boys and I also attended. Chris and I walked and looked at the cars and trucks. This is something we both have enjoyed doing over the years. Next year we are hopeful to enter the blue rocket and the Jeep. The choirs also sang.

Today the choir in which Austin sings had a big competition with other choirs. It is like state testing for choirs called the CPA. His choir scored Superior with Distinction which is the highest honor! Bravo!

In a couple weeks, the various choirs will travel to Disney World. We are super excited to participate! I will be chaperoning and joining the fun. De ja vu era!

World Down Syndrome Day

Yesterday was 3-21… many people see it as a regular day.  However, we celebrate wearing crazy socks and reflect on how much we have learned and grown and appreciated little things in life. We are grateful for Dylan and all his accomplishments. We are thankful for things many take for granted. Most of all - we CELEBRATE Dylan! We love you kiddo! This week I was also able to celebrate with Dylan as he was joined with his schoolmates and other unified sports athletes at the Unified Games.

Earlier in the week Dylan and Chris had their annual father/son date to watch wrestling. This year’s Wrestlmania event was filled with a fun night! Dylan cheered and booed the entire time. He had an awesome time watching his favorite wrestlers and booing the ones that like to be booed!

Crocheting-a hobby

I have taken up crocheting as a hobby and I’m really enjoying it. This summer I asked a friend to help me and she showed me some basic stitches. That day I learned how to make a Granny square but I was unable to do myself when I came home so I began watching YouTube videos and have learned many stitches I have made a variety of items using YouTube as my guide. I am learning to read crochet patterns too!

This is my first ever project!! A blanket- I taught myself after watching videos to make this quilt, change yarn colors, and weave in yarn.

Other projects include hats, one sock, a coaster, diaper covers, a bonnet (that was too big that I will go back to redo), and a sleep sack (I need to add buttons). Yes, many are the same color but that is ok- I have matching sets!!!

My current project is a puppy with accessories so far I have 4 legs and a tail. I have  projects on my list to complete this year. Stay tuned…..

More Disney pics

Disney 2023 -Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios

It was a cold day, but we managed it and some slight drizzle. We don’t get to show off our shirts during the day because we were bundled up with long sleeves, but we did pause to take a picture with our shirts.

We were able to see many animals on the Safari ride. We rode it two times- once early in the morning and saw the most animals I believe we have ever seen and in the afternoon. We saw the Lion King Show, The birds show and Bug’s Life show. We were able to ride all the rides even after waiting for the MR Everest ride to reopen.
At Hollywood Studios, we explored Star Wars land and got to see characters up close. We also were able to see the Neauty and the Beast Show and Fantasmic. We were able to catch all the rides too.
Overall, we walked about 98,000 steps, made memories, laughed, loved, and spent times with those we love.
